Contractors :: Training
Joining the program starts with a four-day training and one-day field examination that covers an introduction to the program, use of the diagnostic equipment, basic building science concepts, and site visits to houses. A half-day training is available for sales staff. A three-day version of the training is available for contractors only performing improvements in the program.
Mentoring Period
Following the training, contractors practice the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® assessment process on site visits with assistance from Southface staff. This period is useful both for the contractor to gauge how the program can fit into their existing business, as well as gain more hands-on experience in the field assessing houses. For their next 15 projects, the contractor submits all paperwork on each project for review by Southface staff.
